What are the 3 mechanisms of energy transfer that occur within the atmosphere?  Describe/define each of them.

  1. Three mechanisms of energy transfer are radiation, conduction, and convection. Radiation- transfer of this heat energy by electromagnetic waves. Conduction- transfer of heat from one molecule to another within a substance. And convection- transfer of heat through the movement of a fluid, such as water or air.

  2. Conduction, direct transfer of energy from molecule to molecule, convection, rising warm air and cool air sinking mix temperatures, and radiation which are atoms absorbing the suns uv rays.

      • I don’t see how that is too vague, it’s the definition. Conduction is transfer of heat or electricity directly transmitted through another object with different temperatures. Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of fluid. And radiation is the transfer of energy from molecule to molecule through electromagnetic waves.
