  1. From what I understand, bio fuels are causing deaths over the world (mainly Europe). The trees are supposed to be cleaner than what we currently use, but more detrimental to our bodies and farmers crops.

  2. There are many pollution problems in Europe causing a large amount of deaths. They have created a new seed for a tree that produces something called wood fuel. This wood fuel is a cleaner alternative to oil and coal.

  3. A thought on the article is that they bring up the point that although the production of bio fuels is supposed to be helping the environment it is actually causing even more air pollution and a sharp increase in premature death.

    • needed to include or reference 3 pieces of information/data from the article

      • I just corrected the 2-28 response because that’s what it said in pinnacle, but I’m guessing you many this one. Some reference pieces of information are “Green schemes to fight climate change by producing more bio-fuels could actually worsen a little-known type of air pollution.” Also these biofuels could “cause almost 1,400 premature deaths a year in Europe by 2020.” Lastly, “isoprene forms toxic ozone when mixed with other air pollutants in sunlight.”

  4. Poplar, willow or eucalyptus trees, all used as fast-growing sources of renewable wood fuel, emit high levels of the chemical isoprene as they grow, the study. Isoprene forms toxic ozone when mixed with other air pollutants in sunlight. The report estimated that ozone from wood-based energy to meet the European Union’s 2020 goal would cause nearly 1,400 premature deaths a year, costing society $7.1 billion. Producing more bio-fuels could actually worsen a little-known type of air pollution and cause all those premature deaths.

  5. It’s on the production of bio fuels and it’s meant to help the environment with air pollution and human health.

  6. Trees need faster growing resources, high level chemical zones, bio fuels could worsen.

  7. Europe is currently facing many problems related to pollution. 3 key points are, that they are trying to fight climate change by producing more bio-fuels. However, these bio-fuels may worsen air pollution. This pollution is causing many deaths and lung problems.

  8. Deaths in Europe are being caused by pollution problems. The production of bio fuels might be causing even more air pollution instead. The wood-based energy could even produce 1,400 deaths.

  9. Europe is undergoing pollution problems which is causing large amounts of death. Bio fumes are contaminating the air from coal and fossil fuels. Trees are being used for a substitute for cleaner results.

  10. Basically trees used as an alternative fuel source is causing ozone to form, causing health problems and lower crop yields. They Used the fact that a chemical produced when a certain tree grows causes ozone to form, competing for crops will increase price of foods, and cause health problems.

  11. The pollution is Europe is becoming a big issue. Bio fuels are worsening, which causes climate change. This is also worsening the air pollution. It’s creating high level chemical zones.

  12. Europe is facing a big environmental problem. In order to stop this, they have created a seed for trees that produces wood fuel. This is an alternative to solve Europes environmental issues.

  13. The articles about biofuels being worst for air pollution than fossil fuels. The article said that biofuels could cause 1400 premature deaths per year in Europe by 2020. Poplar, willow or eucalyptus trees, all used as fast-growing sources of renewable wood fuel, emit high levels of the chemical isoprene as they grow, the article said. Last the Biofuels can cause food prices to go up.

  14. Poplar, willow or eucalyptus trees, all used as fast-growing sources of renewable wood fuel, emit high levels of the chemical isoprene as they grow. Isoprene forms toxic ozone when mixed with other air pollutants in sunlight. The report estimated that ozone from wood-based energy to meet the European Union’s 2020 goal would cause nearly 1,400 premature deaths a year, costing society seven point one billion dollars.
