How does the correlation method compare/contrast with the ‘scientific method’?

  1. The principle is often incorrectly summarized as “other things being equal, a simpler explanation is better than a more complex one.” In practice, the application of the principle often shifts the burden of proof in a discussion.

  2. The scientific method is a series of steps used to test ideas and see if they are valid. The correlation method is more of a guess as to if our ideas or theories are true from evidence we have that cannot be tested. Both methods have a way to test idea though.

  3. The correlation method doesn’t have an experiment in the steps because it would be unethical or its size doesn’t allow an experiment to be performed. They both are systematic ways of finding something out.

The scientific method, instead of using correlations, uses experiments to investigate problems.

In other words when the scientific method won’t work for an experiment, we use the correlatin method

  11. The scientific method and correlation method vary in many different ways. For example, the scientific method is a series of steps to test an idea or hypothesis. Where as the correlation method is a educated guess where there is no tests available for that topic. Although, both are systematic in a way of testing an idea or hypothesis.

They are different because the correlation method is used to find associations with two or more things, and the scientific method is used to make observations to investigate different problems.

  13. Both methods use data to figure out what they are looking for. The difference between the two is that in correlation they test predictions by examining correlation between two or more events. The scientific method they actually test the predictions through experiments.

The scientific method uses a series of experiments and observations to come to a conclusion, while the correlation method relies on observations and already known facts because the thing being studied can’t be experimented on.

  15. The scientific method you observe,draw facts and conclusions, then experiment. In the correlation method you rely on observations and already known facts because you cannot experiment on what you’re studying.
